About the artist
Cassielelolea is an emerging artist based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She works primarily with watercolours and ink, creating simple yet complex paintings that explore the complexity of human relationships and psychology. Cassie's personal introspection and mindfulness towards the mental state are reflected in her artwork, which exhibits an interplay between abstract marks and fluid watermarks with recognisable forms.
She has exhibited her works in a solo show and numerous group shows across various art spaces in Malaysia, including Hin Bus Depot, Ming Fine Arts, Galeri Puteh, and Temu House. She has received the Visual Art Program grant from Cendana Malaysia and was awarded "Most Imaginative Artwork" at the Art Salon 2018. She was also selected for the 2021 George Town Festival artist residency program in Penang.
Cassie founded Le Art Shop in 2020, an online art supply store that caters mainly to urban sketchers and traveling artists. She also hosts life drawing sessions regularly at different locations, hoping to encourage more people to experience drawing from observation.
